This came about as my Grandfather has lots of pictures taken in the early 1900's with some images of my village (he used to drink at the local pub) so there is already some grounds for comparison on how it used to be compared to the present day. More than that though I have always found it hard to take pictures of the village I live in, as it is so familiar to me, nothing looks new or interesting, so I thought it would be a good photo challenge. When I started to analyse what is in the village and what to cover I was amazed at the opportunity on my doorstep. Today for example, I was walking the dog through some woods and found this old kettle, dumped next to the fence with the village name on it, that was just today. Some of the things I intend to cover is the various sports and activities that frequently go on and hopefully some of the parish meetings. The carnival that happens each year with the election of the carnival queen, building of floats, demonstrations and the rest. The pubs and their regulars as well as the people that frequent the village, all in all, a lot to cover so it will take me the best part of the year. Ok I could have taken it outside and done something different, creative or unique, but I have been so paranoid about getting it wet that it has hampered myself from doing what I want. All I want to do is see how well it renders colours outdoors, the light coming in through my windows in the house gives a somewhat dingy, lifeless look to any indoor pictures, that just dosen't inspire me. With all this said, I am definitely out at the weekend, come rain or shine.
